What types of tasks or projects could I assist with as a volunteer? As a volunteer, you can contribute in a variety of impactful ways based on your skills and interests. Opportunities include teaching English (both verbal and written), providing computer skills training, assisting with photography and videography, writing blogs, creating social media content, or supporting website design. We also welcome volunteers with expertise in other areas, and we are open to discussing how your unique skill set can be utilized to support our mission.
-
I have a specific skill set or program idea I’d like to contribute. Is this possible?Absolutely! We value fresh ideas and innovative approaches. If you have a particular skill or area of expertise you'd like to contribute, or if you’re interested in introducing a new program, we would love to hear from you. Please reach out to discuss your ideas, and we'll explore how we can collaborate to make them a reality.
-
How can I get involved in one of your construction projects? If you're interested in participating in a construction project, we recommend reaching out to our Canadian partner organization, Her International, or Developing World Connections for the latest updates and project details. They are coordinating these efforts and can provide the necessary information about ongoing or upcoming opportunities in the field.

What is the appropriate dress code for volunteers?Nepal is a culturally rich and traditional country, and we encourage volunteers to dress modestly and respectfully, especially when in rural or community settings. For men and women, covering the shoulders and avoiding overly revealing clothing is generally recommended. In urban areas like Kathmandu, the dress code may be a bit more relaxed, but it’s always best to err on the side of modesty. When in doubt, feel free to ask us for specific guidance based on your location and activities.

What type of food can I expect during my stay? The type of food you’ll have access to will depend on where you’re staying. If you are based in Kathmandu, there is a wide variety of food available, from local Nepali cuisine to international options, especially in hotels and guesthouses. The cost of a meal is approximately 1 to 5 USD, depending where and what you eat. If you’re volunteering in Dang, meals are included in the cost of your stay and will consist of traditional Nepali meals, including dal bhat (lentil soup with rice), vegetables, and other regional dishes. It’s a wonderful opportunity to experience authentic Nepali food, which is often flavorful and nutritious.

What is the recommended duration of a volunteer commitment? We generally ask volunteers to commit to a minimum of two weeks. This duration allows you to engage meaningfully in the projects and create a lasting impact. Of course, if you're able to stay longer, we'd be happy to discuss opportunities to deepen your involvement, but the two-week minimum helps ensure that you can make a real difference while also adapting to life and work in Nepal.

What are the costs associated with volunteering? The cost of volunteering will depend on your location and accommodation preferences. In Kathmandu, you have the flexibility to arrange your own accommodations, or we can assist in finding a homestay to immerse you in local culture. In Dang, we request a contribution of $15 per day to cover your room and board. This fee helps ensure that volunteers have a safe and comfortable stay while contributing to the community. While we would love to be able to provide housing for volunteers, unfortunately, our budget and resources are limited. Our funds from partners and donors go directly towards projects and the people who need it most. We appreciate your understanding and contributions to our cause.
