Financial Literacy for Members of Mothers Groups

Since 2008, Creating Possibilities Nepal (CP Nepal) has been dedicated to empowering underprivileged women through microcredits, fostering entrepreneurship, and promoting self-reliance. Financial literacy is essential to this journey, equipping women with the tools to manage their finances effectively and secure a brighter future for their families and communities.

Recently, a four-month financial literacy program targeting laborers was launched in Sisahaniya, Ward No. 2, Rapti Rural Municipality, Kataha. CP Nepal organized the program in collaboration with Rapti Rural Municipality; the program was inaugurated on Tuesday, and Municipality Chairperson Prakash Bista inaugurated the program on Tuesday. Speaking at the event, Chairperson Bista emphasized the program's significance in enhancing the living standards of laborers by providing fundamental reading, writing, and practical financial knowledge.

“Our goal is to empower workers to become self-reliant and confident by teaching them proper income management, savings, investment, and financial security,” he stated.

Rapti Rural Municipality Spokesperson and Ward No. 2 Chairperson Pahalwan Chaudhary discussed the challenges faced by the labor community due to a lack of literacy and accounting skills. He hoped the program would bring ease and confidence to their daily lives.

The literacy class, which will be conducted at the community building in Kataha, includes 30 participants, both women and men. Asmita Chaudhary is handling the teaching responsibilities. On the occasion, educational materials were also distributed to the participants to support their learning journey.

Through initiatives like this, CP Nepal continues to strengthen its mission of empowering marginalized communities, creating sustainable change, and breaking the cycle of poverty. Financial literacy is not just a skill but a stepping stone to long-term empowerment and resilience for individuals and their families.
